Ridwaan Boda

Executive at ENSafrica

Ridwaan Boda is an Executive in ENSafrica’s Corporate Commercial practice, where he heads up the TMT team. He is also a member of the United Nations Global Pulse Panel of International Data Privacy Experts. Ridwaan has considerable experience and expertise in the TMT arena, having worked and advised on some of South Africa’s largest and most prominent information and communications technology (“ICT”) transactions. He also has significant global experience, having worked in the United Kingdom and on a number of multijurisdictional matters. Ridwaan’s experience and expertise in the field of ICT law includes advising on large-scale ICT outsourcing transactions, complex systems integration projects, as well as other large-scale ICT projects. He has drafted and negotiated numerous commercial and TMT-related agreements, including those relating to outsourcing, ICT procurement, software, hardware, systems integration, consultancy and “body-shop”, cloud-computing, teaming and collaboration and IP-transfer agreements, as well as IT policies and procedures. Ridwaan is an Advisory Council member for the Innovative Law Club Africa (ILCA). As an Advisory Council member, Ridwaan provides strategic guidance to the ILCA, engineering partnerships, and collaborating on special projects.

Dr. Tobias Schonwetter 

Associate Professor at University of Cape Town

Dr. Tobias Schonwetter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Commercial Law, and the Director of the Faculty's Intellectual Property Unit, as well as the Founding Director of the Faculty's iNtaka Centre for Law & Technology. He teaches IP and IT law. He currently leads several development- and innovation-oriented research and capacity building projects, including the Open African Innovation Research network, Open AIR. He regularly advises various government and non-governmental entities on issues relating to IP and, in particular, copyright and open access. In 2018, Tobias became an Associate Member of the Centre of Law, Technology and Society at the University of Ottawa, Canada; and in 2019 he joined the Department of Science and Innovation’s Open Science Advisory Board. Previously, Tobias has held positions as a Senior Manager – Technology and Innovation Law – at PwC South Africa, as the Regional Coordinator for Africa and Legal Lead in South Africa for the Creative Commons Corporation, as a guest editor for the African Journal of Information and Communication, and as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cape Town’s Intellectual Property Research Unit.

Genevieve Mojapelo-Molefe

Head of Legal at Discovery Bank Limited

Genevieve Mojapelo-Molefe is a seasoned Information Technology (IT) and commercial attorney, with over 12 years’ post-admission legal experience. Genevieve is currently the Head of Legal at Discovery Bank Limited, a leading behavioural and digital Bank in South Africa. Her professional career started at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Incorporated, where she served her articles and proceeded to work as part of the professional legal team in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications department. Genevieve holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Law (BCom Law) as well as a Law degree (LLB), both attained at the University of Pretoria. She is currently an Executive MBA Candidate at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, having successfully completed the course work in 2023 and now working towards the submission of her final dissertation, on the management of risks associated with Artificial Intelligence implementations in South African organizations. Genevieve has gained experience at a number of reputable financial institutions such as Nedbank Limited, as a Head of Legal responsible for Group Technology Contracting and Legal Services, as well as Rand Merchant Bank, where she was responsible for the capability build of a new Vendor Management Legal function, whose role was to remediate, mitigate and manage contractual legal and technology risks across critical IT service provider relationships in the Bank. Some of her notable recognitions include the Nedbank Achiever Award 2014, Nedbank Top Team Award 2015 and the Rand Merchant Bank Newcomer of the Year Award 2019.
